Firm Profile
Thomas Bateman Hood Architecture is an award-winning firm with more than a quarter century of experience in seven states including California, Idaho, and Arizona. We specialize in residential and sustainable projects that require particular design sensitivity to historic considerations, site planning, construction logistics, and the use of natural and sustainable materials as an active means of design expression.
Principal Tom Hood believes that one of the most important tasks for residential architects is making people's lives more special. Having worked in both architecture and construction, Tom is confident enough to utilize manu design styles--and to render their core components equally well. From indoor lighting to outdoor landscaping, every aspect of a TBH home make sense both aesthetically and structurally.
Equally important, Tom has dedicated his career to listening to his clients. Unique among architects, he is known for clear communication and first-hand knowledge of home construction. He makes the entire design process transparent by talking to clients through each step, so that the end product reflects their personal vision. No one project relflects either Tom Hood's personality or a particularly identifiable school of design. Instead, the finished product is the result of a truly rewarding collaboration with each client.
The universal appeal and timeless quality of Hood-designed homes has led them to be featured in numerous photo shoots for Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, and AT&T, among others. In addition, the firm and its work have appeared several times on HGTB, on Canadian Public Radion, and in countless publications including the cover of Sunset Magazine as well as Architecture, British Home & Garden, and Southern Homes.
